Figure Unveils Its AI Model for Robots

Figure has announced Helix, a new vision–language–action model designed to deliver full upper-body control for humanoid robots. The system integrates visual perception, natural language understanding, and high-frequency motor control into a single neural network.

Helix doesn’t need to be fine-tuned or trained in demonstrations to perform tasks. Instead, the new design allows the robots to interact with objects they've never encountered before. All the user has to do is describe the job in natural language.

This is one of the first projects of its kind.

Helix operates through two coordinated modules: one that interprets scene data and language cues at a moderate rate, and another that executes continuous control commands at 200 Hz. This design allows robots to handle grasping objects, performing coordinated maneuvers, and other things.

Another important fact is that Helix supports coordination between multiple robots. This means that humanoids are capable of pairing up and solving tasks together in the real world. You can see an example of such interaction in the video above.

According to the startup, Helix is engineered to run on low-power embedded GPUs, positioning it as a commercially viable solution for home applications. At the same time, Figure says it is still “only scratching the surface of what is possible”. The developer wants to see what happens when they scale Helix to 1000x and beyond.

Once Helix is up and running, Figure will move to commercialization.

So, it seems Figure really has a chance to become the “OpenAI of the AI hardware world”. If you don't believe me, pay attention to the actions of OpenAI.
The company's fund invested in Figure in February last year, when the startup raised $675M at a $2.6B valuation. Incidentally, right now, according to Reuters, the company is in talks to raise $1.5B that would value the company at $39.5B.

# News Of The Week 🌍

xAI Releases Grok 3

Startup Elon Musk has unveiled the newest version of its AI model, Grok 3. According to the first tests, it outperforms competitors, including the best OpenAI and DeepSeek models, in almost everything. That said, Grok 3 supports reasoning mode (xAI calls it “thinking”) and DeepSearch. Full access to Grok 3 is available to X Premium + subscribers, but all X users can try a limited version of the chatbot.

We covered Grok 3 in yesterday's post. (spoiler: we liked it a lot)

Mira Murati's Startup Steps Out of Stealth

Now it's official. Mira Murati, former CTO of OpenAI, has announced the launch of her own startup. It's called Thinking Machines Lab and aims to make AI systems more understandable, customizable, and generally capable. The startup has assembled a team of about 30 top researchers and engineers, with about two-thirds being former OpenAI employees.

Humane AI Dead And Sold to HP

Humane's story has come to an end. After a barrage of negative criticism and failed sales, the startup that developed the AI Pin (a gadget that promised to replace your smartphone) is shutting down and selling its assets to HP. The business was valued at $116M. The startup also warned customers who have already purchased Pin that their devices will stop functioning later this month.

Closing Humane was only a matter of time. And the deal with HP sounds like not the worst ending.

Microsoft Introduces AI Model For Game Dev

Microsoft unveiled Muse, a generative AI model designed to transform game development. Developed in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios' Ninja Theory, Muse utilizes a World and Human Action Model (WHAM) to generate gameplay visuals and predict controller inputs based on extensive gameplay data from the multiplayer game Bleeding Edge.

You can see examples of generated gameplay here. It doesn't look perfect, but it feels like a big step for AI in video game development.
