Open Source Agents For Founders & Creators
Directory of Free AI Agents

Hi! As we continued to investigate the topic of agent implementation, we came across the cool project Awesome AI Agents by e2b-dev. It's a repository with over a hundred agents for creators, founders, and entrepreneurs.
Today, we discuss this project and share the most valuable open-source solutions.
Let’s get started.
Keep your mailbox updated with practical knowledge & key news from the AI industry!
Awesome AI Agents | Overview
Awesome AI Agents is a list of popular AI apps and AI agents curated by E2B, a startup that provides a cloud runtime for agents. This list is hosted on GitHub under the repository e2b-dev/awesome-ai-agents.
The idea is to create a one-stop resource for creators, developers, and just plain enthusiasts who want to incorporate agents into everyday work. If you develop your own agents, you can join the list to find new users and get feedback. It includes both open-source and closed-source projects.
- The first section collects AI agents that are freely available for use and modification, allowing you to adapt these tools to their needs.
- And the second presents proprietary solutions developed by various companies specializing in AI. These tools may require licensing fees and often offer advanced features and specialized support.
The product categories are limited only to the interests of the community. Currently, most Awesome AI Agents consist of coding solutions, but there are also agents related to marketing, finance, analytics, productivity, and more.
Since we are not heavily technical users, we will consider those agents that require minimum skill set. And to make it easier for you to understand the picture, here is the list of agents for September 2024 (there are a bit more now):

Now, let’s explore five standout agents from the list that can help you achieve greater productivity (or even implement a new idea).
General Purposes & App Building | AutoGPT
AutoGPT is an open-source AI agent that autonomously breaks down complex goals into smaller tasks and executes them using OpenAI's GPT-4 model. It allows you to create new bots for different tasks or even generate applications and websites. It operates autonomously to achieve set goals with minimal human intervention.
Here's a pretty good real-life example:
A creator from X named Sully built a website using AutoGPT in just 3 minutes. You can watch a video of the process here.

To experiment with AutoGPT, visit its GitHub repository and follow the setup instructions. You’ll need Python installed on your system to run the application locally but the process will be simple even for less experienced users.
As an alternative to AutoGPT, you can try AgentGPT. This platform is available in the browser and does not require installing any software on your PC.
Agents Invading Your Mac & Windows PCs
Here, we have two solutions designed for the same type of tasks but different audiences. These are UFO for Windows users and Self-operating computer for macOS (by the way, also suitable for Windows). These are agents for managing your PC that you can run locally and give them tasks related to your software.
To use both agents, no programming knowledge or additional costs are required. However, you will need OpenAI Keys.
Here's an example of what UFO is capable of:

Build Your Discord Community with AI Agent

GPT Discord is an AI agent that integrates with Discord to provide conversational capabilities. It can engage in discussions, answer questions, and provide information on various topics. According to the developers of this agent, it is on feature parity with the ChatGPT website and even does some things a little better.
Here’s its key features:
- Natural language understanding and generation
- Seamless integration with Discord servers
- Customizable responses to align with community guidelines
Community managers can deploy GPT Discord to engage members by answering queries, moderating discussions, and providing instant information on various topics.
For instance, in a tech-focused community, GPT Discord can handle FAQs about programming languages, tools, or industry news, thereby enhancing user experience and reducing the workload on human moderators.
If you're developing your Discord community or just thinking about it, this agent can be a great way to grab users' attention and give them value.
To learn more and try it out: Visit the GPT Discord GitHub page to access setup instructions. You’ll need a Discord account and API credentials to get started.

Research Any Topic with GPT

You may well have met the next AI agent. Over the past year and a half, it has managed to grow from a small project on GitHub to one of the leading autonomous AI research agents. It is called GPT Researcher.
Created using Next.js and TypeScript, it supports various large language models like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Llama 3, and can generate research reports exceeding 2,000 words. GPT Researcher can explore complex queries, scrape information from over 20 sources, and export results in multiple formats like PDF, Markdown, and CSV.
For creators and entrepreneurs, this tool offers value by reducing manual research time, providing unbiased and up-to-date insights, and supporting decision-making across various domains.

Create Your Agents Without Coding
Last but not least is Superagent. Like the project above, it has grown from an idea on GitHub to a full-fledged startup (now even supported by YC!). It allows any developer or entrepreneur to add AI assistants to their applications. These agents use LLMs, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and generative AI to help users.
Superagent supports integration with well-known major language models such as ChatGPT, and easily connects with enterprise tools such as Airtable, Salesforce, and various API ecosystems. And of course it's fully open-sourced.
According to the developers, with this solution you can build any AI app, including:
- Question/Answering over Documents
- Chatbots
- Co-pilots & AI assistants
- Content generation
- Data aggregation
- Workflow automation agent

The founders also regularly release simple and easy to understand tutorials on how to use Superagent. You can see an example above.
Before I get back to testing these and other agents, let me suggest a few more posts on this topic. After all, this is the main direction of the industry in 2025!
